The Great Canadian Blog Bash

I started my blog as an outlet and to express my love for my children, photography and cooking. I currently work full time in Family Medicine and love my career working with patients. I have two young boys who love soccer, fishing and cars.

The Great Canadian Blog Bash is in it’s third year and was started as a way for Canadians to discover great new Canadian blogs, companies and products. There is also many opportunities to participate in fantastic Canadian sponsored giveaways! The Great Canadian Blog Bash runs from June 27 – July 11th.

Here’s wishing you a very Happy Canada Day weekend!

I am looking forward to sharing the Canadian love with you all and meeting new friends!

Sailun Tires: Quality, Safety and Value – Putting Sailun to the Test #trustsailun

Two weeks ago I was able to participate in a full day track event with Sailun Tires and PTPA. Prior to this date I had never heard of Sailun Tires so I was looking forward to learning about this brand and the tire industry. My husband has in the past looked after most of these details but in the past few years I have become more interested in learning about my car so I thought this would be a perfect experience!

Sailun Tires manufactures and distributes various types of passenger and truck tires in all major markets through out North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. They focus on safety, performance and value. They produce tires in the value tier of the tire market.

We started the day off with a presentation that went into the background, the various research and safety techniques that go in to each Sailun tire. What stood out to me the most was the amount of safety testing that goes in to each and every tire! Every tire is tested for uniformity (not just one tire out of a batch like most companies tend to lean towards). Safety is of the utmost importance to Sailun Tires which many parents (and drivers in general) can appreciate as we have some special cargo in the car each time we drive!

To truly appreciate the information we were given we were invited to put the tires to the test. For roughly four hours, each of the Brand Ambassadors were given a chance to participate in a blind test in two cars with two different sets of tires on them. We had to go through an obstacle course two to three times in each car with a professional driver and were encouraged to drive fast and hard as well as braking quickly. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. There were two different courses to participate in that day.

What an experience this was! By the time I reached the second course – I could definitely detect the difference in the tires in two major areas. The first area I noticed the major difference in was the way in which the tires held and gripped the pavement. The Sailun tires held to each curve and did not give me the fear that the car was sliding a bit. I felt confident with each sharp turn at fast speeds. The second area I noticed the difference in was when I had to complete a short and quick stop at a higher speed. The tires responded quickly and efficiently to ensure I was able to complete this task.

The best part of my day: being in the back seat of one of the professional drivers! I have never been in a car going that fast and making such sharp turns – I was laughing and screaming the whole time!!

This is from the Sailun Tire website and it just fits in so well with the brand beliefs that they delivered to us and I wanted to share it with you:

Information Technology

Sailun Tires has made great strides in the tire industry despite its short history. Sailun currently invests approximately one third of its resources in research and development. In 2009, Sailun, together with the Qingdao University of Science and Technology, were nominated to develop a National Tire Process and Control Engineering Technology Research Center to build the optimal technical research platform to promote tire technology.  Key technical issues in the tire manufacturing process are studied and solved to move the tire industry forward in the quest for improved technology and the production of a high quality product. Sailun is the first tire manufacturer to integrate production, research, and product demonstration into the development of new products. Utilizing both BPSO design technology and three-dimensional design visualization to reduce the tire design period and improve overall quality. Sailun’s computerized tire production and manufacturing process in conjunction with management techniques and network control systems allows it to effectively monitor quality control, resource management, marketing, administration and logistics. In addition, Sailun uses advance information technology to help trace the data of each tire produced, and benchmarking against leading international standards of quality and design.

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance is of utmost importance to Sailun and its advancement in the industry. Its mandate encompasses all aspects of the organization such that all processes are measured and monitored to ensure the integrity and quality of all raw materials meet specifications. Sailun Tires’ advanced tracking system records the status and state of every single tire produced at the factory, from creation to customer shipment. All tires undergo a final inspection process to ensure that the product shipped from the factory meets international expectations in addition to fulfilling regulatory and market requirements.

I am not a big red wine consumer so I was a bit nervous to try out my friend’s Sangria recipe. I was actually very surprised with the sweet taste and how refreshing the drink is. It was super easy to make but I had to adjust her recipe according to the ingredients I had in my home.
