About Beyond All Dreams

Anna O’Brien leads a quiet and predictable life as a map librarian at the famed Library of Congress. Her quiet life slowly changes when she stumbles across the mystery of a ship that disappeared at sea. All of her attempts to uncover information is thwarted by others in positions of power. Her determination outweighs her shyness and she turns to a dashing congressman for help.

Luke Callahan was one of the nation’s most powerful congressmen before his career was shadowed in scandal. Eager to help the beautiful and intriguing librarian, he joins forces with Anna to solve the mystery of the lost ship. Opposites in every way, Anna and Luke are drawn to each other despite all the strict rules forbidding Anna from any romantic entanglements with members of Congress.
From the halls of the Capitol where powerful men shape the future of the nation to the archives of the nation’s finest library, Anna and Luke are soon embroiled in secrets much bigger and more perilous than they ever imagined. Is bringing the truth to light worth risking all that they have ever dreamed of?
My Thoughts
I fell in love with this story from the first chapter. I am a huge history fan so this novel won its way to my heart immediately!
Anna is a bright young woman living in a time that was quite difficult for women. She wanted to succeed in her career that so many women could not obtain or if they did as soon as they were married they were forced to leave their position. She could not and would not let anyone ruin her position. She had given up on love and finding a partner as not only would this ruin her chance of working in the Congress Library but she was also much older than typical young women of marriageable age.
Luke has his own family history of scandal as well as his own. He is controversial and so very different form the men in Anna’s life.  Behind his rough exterior he is a man of compassion, intelligence and kindness.
From start to finish, Beyond All Dreams is a fantastic, engaging read that you will enjoy over and over again.

I Choose You Today by Deb DeArmond #LitfuseReads

Marriage is a blessing between two people that we have to continuous work on every day. Marriage is a decision we make to love our spouse and to honour, respect and communicate openly with them. I Choose You Today by Deb DeArmond is an incredibly important read for all married couples and those soon to be married.

I-Choose-You-Today

About I Choose You Today

Deb DeArmond has been married for thirty-eight years and knows a lot when it comes to marriage. Every day her and her husband make the spoke declaration, I Choose You Today. This declaration is a regular part of their constant communication. When we do not feel like saying these words that is when it is most important to remind ourselves that love is a choice not a feeling. I Choose You Today features thirty-one scriptural principles that work to support marriage and help couples to develop healthy bible based behaviour.

Built on an introductory anecdotal story, each chapter has an inspirational take away of not only what to do but how to apply these principles immediately. Thought provoking questions create talking points for couples to explore their own choices and experiences to generate open dialogue. I Choose You Today is not a book of “should do” but one of choices that each individual can make in their marriage and align it with God. Every chapter ends with an inspirational quote.

My Thoughts

My marriage and my husband are two of the most important things in my life. Every day we work towards building a stronger relationship and partnership. He knows me better than any one else I have ever met. He knows by just looking at me when I am hurt, sad or feeling down and always tries to make my day that much better. In the almost twelve years we have known each other we have had our own share of ups and downs. And the downs can hit hard. It is during these moments when our relationship is tested the most. I know I am guilty of occasionally not fighting fair.

I loved the openness of her book. She lets you into their marriage and relationship with complete honesty and uses their marriage to give guidance and understanding. She shares the struggles that others face and that many of us are currently facing right now. She breaks down each chapter by “I Choose You” to honour, love and so on. Sometimes it is hard to forget how to honour, love, respect our spouse. I love my husband with all my heart but with the daily struggles of getting by I can forget to tell him so. It is important to remember to make this part of our daily lives no matter how busy we become. She ends each chapter with a closing prayer and inspirational quote. The best part is you can read the chapters together or separately but they are all conversation starters for yourself and your spouse.

This is a definite must read for all married couples and those soon to be married. Deb explores each topic and reminds us that our marriage is one of the most important choices we will make in our life.

Swept Away by Laura V. Hilton and Cindy Loven #review

The past and present collide in Swept Away – will our two main characters be able to come to peace with their past in order to love in the present?

About Swept Away

Sara doesn’t think she wants to have to love in her life. Her Grandmother has different plans for her.

Sara Morgan is trying to balance teaching with caring for her stubborn and unwell Grandmother. When school lets out for the summer, the plans are for Grandma to teach Sara to quilt. But as many of us know, things do not always go as planned.

Andrew is hiding from his past and his future. He works as a handyman to pay the bills but his heart loves his art – designing homemade brooms. When Sara’s Grandmother hires him to renovate her home, sparks fly between Drew and Sara.

Still it doesn’t take Sara long to see Drew isn’t what he seems. Questions arise and she starts to research him online! What she discovers could change her life and her heart forever.

My Thoughts

A lovely story of two individuals who given any other chance meeting would never have looked twice at each other. Instead they are tied together by Sara’s Grandmother, their need to look after her and their own sense of loss. Both of our main characters, Sara and Drew, have been dealt blows in their life through a loved one passing away and are still fragile from these losses. They are learning to trust and put themselves out there again. Sara’s Grandmother sees how well they would suit and adds that comic relief in the novel with her matchmaking skills!

A very unique story of accepting their past in order to live in the present, Swept Away is a true treasure to enjoy.
