Three Days to Forever

In Three Days to Forever, Mac Faraday and Spencer’s small police force have to sort through the clues to figure out not only who has been targeted for assassination, but also who is determined to stop everything…forever!
About Three Days to Forever
With three days left to the year, Deep Creek Lake is hopping with holiday vacationers and wedding guests pouring into the Spencer Inn for Mac Faraday and Archie Monday’s huge wedding ceremony which is being touted as the social event of the year.
But droopy flowers and guests who failed to RSVP are the least of Mac’s and Archie’s problems when a professional hit squad hits Spencer Manor to send the groom, Joshua Thornton, Archie’s mother, and Gnarly running for their lives.
With time running out before the big day, Mac Faraday and Spencer’s small police force have to sort through the clues to figure out not only who has been targeted for assassination, but also who is determined to stop everything…forever!
My Thoughts
Three Days to Forever is another heart pounding, suspenseful mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat to the last-minute!
In this novel, we have our two main characters Archie and Mac Faraday about to tie the knot but what could possibly go wrong for this much talked about social event of the year? We find out a lot could go wrong! Every step closer to the altar brings disaster for the very much in love couple. And not the typical ordinary normal pre-wedding problems (even though they do have those!) – we are talking murder, shoot outs and more! Someone wants to put an end Mac Faraday’s marriage before it even starts.
Three Days to Forever is the perfect blend of suspense, mystery, murder and humour (yes humour!). Lauren develops characters that are realistic and individuals that you want to know. You want them to solve the mystery and you pray for their safe keeping throughout the novel. She has an amazing talent of drawing in characters from her other novels in a way that is fresh, unique and always has a tie to an old or new plot (I think this is my favourite part – I am not sure how she keeps track of all the connections!). You don’t have to worry if you have not read her previous novels, she includes a list of characters and their connections at the beginning of each book. You will fall in love with Lauren’s writing and attention to detail. Three Days to Forever is a definite must read for all mystery lovers!
You can purchase a copy of this book on Amazon and Audible.

Building Strong Communities Starts in School #CatholicTeachers

Community: A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. – Merriam Webster Definition
My children, like so many others, spent the majority of their day in school with their teachers and friends. Their friends, teachers, principal and administrative staff have become a second family to my boys. They are there for them when I can’t be, they clean up cuts, teach them to share and build a classroom based on respect, friendship, faith and learning. This second home is where my children learn important life skills and develop a sense of belonging, pride and giving back to their local community. Knowing how important education, school and the community environment that they are a part of is, I chose Catholic Education for my children. I wanted them to have the same positive experiences that I had as a child and to be nurtured in an environment that pushes them to succeed while supporting each and every individual in the classroom.
My boys participate in many events at their school from mass to monthly awards ceremonies to reading buddy groups to sports activities after school to themed events outside of school hours (French Cafe for example). As a family, we have attended many schools events outside of school hours such as BBQs, plays, mass , Advent nights and fundraisers for families in our school. The extracurricular activities at our school are based on faith and respect – including sports activities where a prayer is said before each and every game.
Recently, one of the parents of three children in our school was diagnosed with terminal cancer and to help support this family, a movie fundraiser was organized by the teachers and family community, with all proceeds from the event going to help support this family in a difficult time. This movie night brought together families from all age groups, teachers and administrative staff in the school that wanted to show this family that they were not alone during this difficult time and that we are all there to support them through giving our time, our thoughts, our prayers and acts of kindness.
Why is community so important?
Community is so important for many reasons. One of the most important benefits of belonging to a community is that it helps children to realize that there is more to life than just themselves. We are here to serve others and to give back to others wherever we can. We have all been so blessed and it is important for children to learn the importance of giving back and helping others out in hard times. Being a part of a community in a Catholic school gives you the opportunity to help others in the school, not because it is expected but because you are taught the value and importance of giving back to others by their teachers. I started volunteering in my teen years as a school requirement, I continued to volunteer long after the requirement was met because of the joy I received from working in hospitals and retirement homes. I knew I was making an impact in the lives of others and it gave me a strong sense of accomplishment and joy. I want my boys to experience that same feeling of joy in giving back to others.
Community helps individuals know and feel that they belong to a group who will support them and provide them guidance. When I drop my boys off at their school, they know so many of the students regardless of how old they are. They play sports together, they look after each other when someone is hurt (I have had some of the older students even approach me after school when my youngest had been hurt playing, asking how he was because they had helped him to a teacher to receive care for his cuts) and they are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Being a smaller school, their teachers know them so well and I have had great conversations about my boys, their learning and how they behave in the yard with many teachers outside of their home classroom.
Being a part of a faith based community and learning to give back to others is so important for children as they grow up. Learning these important life lessons in school from their teachers is crucial for instilling these values at a young age. Ontario Catholic Teachers play a huge role in creating well rounded, thoughtful students who understand the importance of community and giving back to others.

Take Family Game Night to a New Level with YULU Games

Family game nights are an excellent time for families to get together, forget the hustle and bustle of life and pay attention to what really matters – each other!
I think we can all agree that sometimes the routine of game night can get boring. Let’s face it, there are only so many times you can play the same game (with the same winner to ensure the game doesn’t end in tears) before you no longer want to play the game anymore. This completely defeats the purpose of game night – you want to make it exciting, interactive and full of laughs.
YULU Toys brings you two brand new exciting and interactive games that encourage problem solving, team building and creative play. Every time you play their games, it is different. YULU’s slogan is to bring ‘More Play, More Fun!’, which is especially true for two of their name games – Break Free and Safe Breaker.
Break Free is a challenging game of skill and quick fingers as you try to pick the lock on your handcuffs! Up to four people (and a minimum of two) can play this game, which is a great fit for most families. There are three difficulty levels you can choose from before you start the race to unlock the cuffs, from easy to difficult and they are identified by colour. All participants must first start of by choosing a level and then handcuffing themselves to each other. Once you are ready to start, each participant uses the lock picker they are given to unlock themselves. This game was intense, exciting and just a bit stressful but only for me! My kids had an amazing time playing this and were able to unlock their cuffs in record time. Mom on the other hand was awful! I ended up getting a bit scared that I was going to be handcuffed to the game forever and it affected how well I was concentrating. My eldest son ended up picking my lock for me after they let me struggle for a couple of minutes each time. We had such an amazing time playing this game, even my Dad got in on the fun when heard us giggling away.
Safe Breaker is a game of skill, memory and luck. In this game, players are trying to crack a code in order to release coins from the safe. This game combines mathematical and luck elements, where participants have to listen for clues with a stethoscope, use fingerprint scanning and more in order to be the first to collect the five golden coins or two diamonds! We had a great time playing this game and each turn was so different. We had to concentrate on the clues and use problem solving skills in order to release the coins from the safe. Each one of us wanted to be the winner in this game! The kids were the better players by far in this one too and it was perfectly suited for their personalities.
Both games can be purchased at Target in the US and Toys R Us and Walmart in Canada and are suitable for children, six years of age and up and adults alike. Both games come with several small pieces so I would not recommend them for children under the age of three or four.
My Canadian and American readers can now enter to win their own YULU Games prize pack that includes the two games above! Please enter via the Rafflecopter form below – Good luck!
Make sure to follow YULU Games on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with the newest games and more!
