Dry Hair Relief with Garnier #DamageEraser

For the past two weeks I have been testing out Garnier’s new line of #DamageEraser products from Influenster. The Damage Eraser line is formulated for dry, damaged and distressed hair. It is designed to reconstruct and preserve hair strength by up to 90%

The formula contains Phyto-Keratin with plant based proteins and fruit concentrate, Cupuacu Butter and natural lipids. The entire line consists of shampoo, conditioner, reconstructing butter and split ends repair.

The product itself has a great smell to it. You can actually smell the Cupuacu Butter (I love body butters so I am so familiar with this smell!). The texture is quite rich and does not feel watered down. I was quite impressed with the results of the line! My hair has been through years of abuse from colouring my dark brown hair blonde to black along with over ten years in a pool daily (I still get comments when I get in the stylist chair about the green undertones in my hair from the chlorine!). I found the best results from the reconstructing butter (pictured below). It left my hair feeling smooth, silky and shiny after one application.

Rating: 4/5

You can find more about their products by visiting Garnier’s website here.

Disclosure: I received the above mentioned products for free from Influenster. All opinions expressed are my own.

Covergirl Clump Crusher #ECBeautyBox

I recently received a fabulous Beauty Box from Elle Canada full of goodies! They were Elle Canada’s Fall 2013 Must Haves!
I was curious about Covergirl’s Clump Crusher as I am a loyal fan of their Lash Blast. I am one of those individuals that as soon as I find a makeup product that works I am hooked! There is just no going back for me – I get stuck in my comfort zone and that is how I feel about my Last Blast.
What struck me about their Clump Crusher mascara was that the tip is actually curved as if to follow the natural curve of your eyelash and to encourage the lengthening of each individual lash. I also found that the tips on the bristle seemed to be more pronounced which really helped separate each lash and prevent any of them from clumping. It took me a while to figure out to handle the wand properly!

What I was really interested in seeing was how these two mascaras would add up against each other so I put them to the test! For one week I tried the Clump Crusher with my two favourite work looks – natural with eyeliner and again with eyeshadow. I wanted to compare the comfort level of each mascara, it’s ability to lengthen my eyelashes, clumping of the mascara and just the overall look.

So how did they stack up?

Here is my almost daily look – eyeliner with mascara (it is so hard to get myself ready in the morning along with two children!). This look was with the Clump Crusher.

Here is how the Clump Crusher mascara looked like with eyeshadow to also help enhance the eyes.

So which one did I prefer?
I did like the fact that the Covergirl Clump Crusher stuck to its promise of delivering beautifully separated lashes BUT I still preferred the lengthening aspect of my Covergirl Lash Blast! I find the Covergirl Last Blast provides the best overall look providing long, volumized lashes with minimal clumps.
Have you tried either Covergirl products before? What is your preferred mascara?

La Roche-Posay: Cicaplast Balm B5 #review

I was given an opportunity to try out La Roche-Posay new product Cicaplast Balm B5. I was pretty excited to try this product out as I suffer greatly from dry and cracked skin especially on my heels and elbows (not to mention the eczema all over!).

Cicaplast Balm B5 is designed to speed up the recovery of the skin from irritations, cuts and cracks. It can be used all over the body – even your lips! I loved the fact that it was paraben free, fragrance free and lanolin free. It is safe enough to use on infants and children. The perfect family product! No more buying different creams for different family members.
I can not believe I am even showing this awful picture of my heel but this was my before photo:

Awful isn’t it? I am cringing as I am uploading and looking at this awful picture! I suffer with cracked heels all through out the summer made worse by the love of my sandals that have little to no support.
I used the balm for just under two weeks, applying daily. I was really impressed with the rich texture of the cream and its quick absorption. You only need a small amount and it feels as though it creates a protective barrier over top of the skin. I could feel the difference in my heels within four days. Not only did they feel softer but the cracks were healing (which was a first!) and no more sandpaper sounding feet rubbing at night (my husband was grateful – he could not stand the noise!).
Here is a look at my heel now:

Pretty neat, eh?! I will definitely be purchasing this in the future!
Disclosure: I received a trial product at no cost but the opinions expressed are my own.

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cleanser

Recently I had received a bottle of Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration cleanser to review via BzzAgent along with their night cream. Burt’s Bees is an incredible company that started in Maine in 1984 selling candles made from beeswax. By 1991, they had expanded to include natural soaps, perfumes and lip balm!. Since then the company has continued to expand but continues to stay true to its original vision of creating natural and earth friendly products. Over half of their 150+ products are all natural! All products contain natural colours and are phthalate-free. The packaging of the products is made from all recycled products. You can find out more about their natural products here: https://www.burtsbees.ca/c/our-values/well-being/the-natural-standard.html

Burt’s Bees Intense hydration line is 99% natural and one of the ingredients is Clary Sage. A plant that is found in the Northern Mediterranean, North Africa and Central Asia. The plant has been used for a lengthy time in medicinal herb and as an essential oil. Clary Sage is excellent for helping to retain moisture.

The cleanser has a mild smell and has a thicker texture (my husband confused it for lotion!). I have been using it daily for the past two weeks and it is quite effective at removing makeup and oil. It also did not leave my skin with a tight feeling after washing and pat drying my face.
The product has been dermatology tested and worked well on my eczema prone skin. The product sells for roughly $12.99 and is sold nation wide at Walmart and Shopper’s Drug Mart.
