Backyard Explorers Kit Giveaway

Calling all backyard explorers – it’s that time of year again to get out in the sunshine and explore nature.

It’s time to learn about the wonders of nature and all the little creatures out there. I know my boys love exploring outside and learning new insects all the time (not so much me – especially the ones with long legs!).

Orkin has created a new Bug Wisdom video series that helps remind us all that some of life’s biggest lessons come from small spaces. Bugs are smart and curious creatures and we can learn so much from them! You can take their quiz to discover your Spirit Bug and learn lots of new facts.

Orkin is giving my American readers a chance to win their own Backyard Explorers Kit which includes a 9 page activity book, bug catching tool and magnifier and sunglasses! Please enter using the Rafflecopter form below.

Number One Sport Fanatic! #FutureFanatics

I have a home full of sports fanatics. Soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey – you name it they love it! We are raising two young future Fanatics in our home and I could not be prouder!

From the time that our boys were born they were sporting their jerseys of their future favourite teams (a.k.a. Mom’s favourite teams – The Maple Leafs and the Raptors – woohoo let’s go Toronto!). Saturday night was always hockey night in our home growing up and I loved the family bonding time it provided us with. I want my children to experience this love as well.

What started out as a once weekly family sports night has turned into watching games together almost every night and now with the FIFA games on my poor cable box is full of recordings of each match! But they love it and we love it. There is nothing better then spending two hours cheering, shouting and laughing with each other. The boys take it one step further and head outside to practice their moves on the court and on the field (honestly can’t even keep up with them anymore!).
The best moments for them have been when they have attended live events (which has not been many but they have definitely been cherished moments!). The picture above was from my son’s first Raptor game and he was so over the moon before and after the game. It was all he talked about for a month straight! These are the moments we hope they remember forever.
Fanatics wants you to share your Future Fanatics with them on social media – show off your little one’s favourite team! If you are not yet familiar with Fanatics they are one of the top leaders in online retail of licensed sports merchandise. They made their first sale in 1997 and have only grown larger over the years. They sell everything from NHL to MLB to NFL – everything your little Fanatic would love! Check them out on Facebook and Twitter and show them how proud you are of your #FutureFanatics.
What sports does your little one play? Is physical activity and sports important to you as a family?

Naan Pizza Recipe

Summer is here and I wanted to lighten up my usual pizza recipe to reflect all the delicious local produce and to accompany the warmer weather.

Here is my easy to prepare (so easy that I can prepare this in the morning for my work lunch while preparing breakfast!).

Ingredients

  • One medium tomato (chopped finely)
  • 1/2 cup of spinach (more or less as you prefer)
  • 2 naan breads
  • 1/4 cup of sliced chicken
  • 1/2 cup of chopped zucchini
  • 1/4 cup of shredded cheese (I used marble cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • tinfoil and baking sheet

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Place a sheet of tinfoil on a baking sheet. Place the two naan breads on the tinfoil.
  • Lightly cover them with the extra virgin olive oil.
  • Cover the naan bread with tomatoes.
  • Top with chicken, zucchini and spinach.
  • Cover with the shredded cheese.
  • Place in the oven and cook for roughly twenty minutes or until the cheese is melted and the naan bread is crisp. Enjoy!
